Two-layer two-phase material point method simulation of granular landslides and generated tsunami waves

Numerical modeling of the entire process tsunamis generation by granular landslides is very difficult and challenging as it involves soil–water interaction, large deformation soil, fluidization sedimentation sand. In this study, a computational model based on two-layer two-phase material point method (MPM) developed to simulate granular-landslide-generated tsunamis, wherein sand are well modeled. The soil behavior described using Mohr–Coulomb with non-associated flow rule, while water considered weakly compressible. Furthermore, three different benchmark problems simulated. All computed results agree corresponding analytical solution laboratory test data, verifying effectiveness proposed MPM for subaerial submerged tsunamis. Additionally, influence parameters wave generated landslide investigated.
